Experiment on variants of layout of Latin graphics on the keyboard of Kazakh letters

Abstract

The Department of Applied Linguistics of A. Baitursynuly Institute of the Linguistics conducted an experiment on the layout of Latin fonts on the keyboard. The experiment was created on a frequency-based keyboard of Latin scripts of Kazakh letters and with a keyboard placed in free spaces in English.

As a result of the analysis, the advantages and disadvantages of two keyboards were announced. During the experiment, recommendations were made based on the analysis results.

The article describes the results of the experiment and the results of two variants of the keyboard of the new national Kazakh alphabet based on Latin graphics. Depending on the convenience of typing letters on the keyboard, the keyboard is divided into active and passive zones, in the middle part there are the most common letters, and in the peripheral part-rare letters. In the article, separate analyses are made for each keyboard, the results of which are clearly stated.
