INTERMIXTURE OF TURKIC-LANGUAGE MONUMENTS: PHONETIC-GRAPHIC CORRESPONDENCES

Abstract

By the example of the marked-out phonetic-graphic signs and their statistical processing, our researches show that each written monument is a concrete and vivid reflection of the language situation in which it was created, and at the same time it is a source for its characteristic. Medieval Turkic-language written monuments written in traditional literary languages, according to their linguistic characteristics, are raised to “mixed” languages. The term «mixed language» itself remains insufficiently formulated. In the current Turkic tradition, “mixing” does not mean a change in the system of the language, but the use of dialectisms in the language of one monument, which are the norm in the language of another monument. In general, the term “mixed” is understood by the Türkologists as the content in the text of the monument of phonetic, grammatical, lexical elements belonging, from their point of view, to the language of another classification group: Kypchak, Oguz, Uyghur, Karluk. Our research on the example of the selected phonetic-graphic features and their statistical processing show that each written monument is a concrete and living reflection of the language situation in which it was created and at the same time it serves as a source for its characteristics.
