LINGUOCULTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF COMMON WORLD COGNITIVE MODELS IN KAZAKH AND TURKISH PROVERBS
Abstract
This article examines the linguocultural nature of common cognitive models in Kazakh and Turkish paremias. Paremias, which play an important role in the history of humankind, are studied as cultural-linguistic units that express national identities. Linguistic data confirm that in the Kazakh and Turkish paremiological fund, kinship names, zoonyms, somatisms, and plant and geographical names are actively used as figurative components of proverbs and sayings. In addition to the national markers used in proverbs and realities reflecting the worldview of the nation, the national specificity of similar situations that provoke unique situations is analyzed. Emphasis is placed on the extralinguistic and linguistic universal properties of proverbs, which are similar in form and content in the Kazakh and Turkish languages. The authors were able to rationally demonstrate the national and cultural features of the Turkish mentality by analyzing proverbs that include the most common lexemes insan, kişi, and adam (man). A comparison of the proverbs of the two nations reveals that, firstly, they are rooted in a shared Turkic cultural heritage; secondly, they reflect the distinctive features of national worldviews shaped by different historical and civilizational contexts. Although many proverbs convey similar values and ideas, their imagery and symbolic expressions are often tied to different national realities. The proverbs examined in this study indicate the cognitive and cultural codes of both nations, preserving their historical memories, spiritual values, and unique worldview.
