https://doi.org/10.55491/2411-6076-2026-1-79-89

Abstract

This article presents an analysis of the publicistic work of the People’s Writer of Kazakhstan, statesman and public figure, and well-known publicist A. Kekilbayev, titled “Naryqqa da paryq kerek” (The Market Also Needs Sense), which is devoted to socio-economic issues. The object of study encompasses not only the content aspect of the text but also the communicative interaction between the author and the reader, the mechanisms of purposeful influence, as well as contextual and social factors. The article carries out a linguistic analysis of the author’s views on national worldview, public consciousness, and social transformations during the period of independence. The text analysis allows for identifying the authorial intention as well as the potential of linguistic means aimed at influencing the addressee. The study employs methods of pragmatic, critical discourse analysis (CDA), rhetorical and stylistic, intentional (based on T. van Dijk’s contextual model), and intertextual analysis. The article is assessed as an important publicistic source reflecting economic difficulties, social stratification, and the spiritual crisis of the early years of independence. The analysis reveals the ideological positions of the author and his moral and ethical guidelines. Special attention is given to his linguistic strategies, evaluative vocabulary, features of using national-cultural codes, and techniques for addressing precedent units. The expressive means identified in the text are considered as linguistic and cognitive mechanisms that enhance the persuasive potential of the discourse. Overall, the article constitutes a comprehensive scientific study revealing the possibilities of A. Kekilbayev’s publicistic discourse. The obtained results can be used in research on personology, discourse analysis, Kekilbayev studies, text stylistics, and pragmatics.
